SeaGate Terminals Celebrates 25 Years of Excellence
On December 1, 2025, SeaGate Terminals will officially celebrate its 25th anniversary, which is an exciting milestone for our company!
SeaGate Terminals originally opened at the SeaGate Savannah site in 2000 at a time when Reed Dulany made a conscious decision to transition out of the fertilizer industry and into the terminal and warehousing field. The SeaGate team started with Kevin Glover, James Wiley, David Hunter and Steve “Short Dog” Brown. Together, these four team members were determined to make the new company successful.
“The SeaGate name came to me in a dream,” recalled Kevin Glover, President of SeaGate Terminals. “One day, Reed and I were driving to Charleston to see about going into the warehouse business. He thought the name was perfect.”
Kevin secured the first SeaGate Terminals customer, a fertilizer company that wanted to unload 11,000 tons of urea in Savannah. At the time, SeaGate’s assets included two outdated warehouse buildings in desperate need of renovation.
“We had no equipment, no receiving hopper, no elevator and no conveyor belt,” Kevin said. “We had to create a system from scratch in time for the big delivery. We had no choice. We could either sink or swim — and we decided to swim.”
The ship arrived on schedule and the new system worked like a charm. Additional customers soon followed, with the SeaGate team handling bulk cargo shipments as well as screening and bagging needs. To meet customers’ changing needs, the company expanded quickly and strategically. Many of those early companies from 25 years ago are still SeaGate customers today. SeaGate added the Norfolk terminal in 2016, significantly expanding capacity for shipping and warehousing customers.
Today, SeaGate Terminals has 60 team members, 400,000 square feet of warehouse space in Savannah and 250,000 square feet of warehouse space in Norfolk. The company serves as the guardians and stewards of their customers’ products, placing a premium on safety, quality and customer service.
“SeaGate has been such an amazing journey,” Kevin said with a smile. “Now, we have a sterling reputation in the market and are very well known. People seek us out because we do a great job for customers in Savannah and Norfolk. Our company has such an amazing story. I’m incredibly privileged to be a part of it. “
